Beltangady: A python of about 15 feet length was found on the side of the road at Mundaje Sanctuary on Mangaluru-Villupuram National Highway.
Motorists and students and public waiting for vehicles at road rest area were scared by the python on the side of the road.
Locals noticed the presence of a python around 8 am on Monday and informed the forest department about it. The python, which was sitting on the ground waiting for hunting, had left the place by the time the department staff arrived with Uragamitra. He searched the surrounding environment and had to return empty-handed without finding the python.
According to the locals, pythons have been found scattered around the Setu area for the past two to three days. The forest department has instructed those who conduct surveys for the development of the national highway, pedestrians, students, motorists, and those who go to the forest to collect grass and firewood to be very careful.
