Belthangady: Akhila Karnataka Janajagruti Vedike will mark Gandhi Jayanti. Over 134 programmes have been organised across the State.
Through the platform, 33 District Forums have been formed across the State to create awareness on the occasion of Gandhi’s birth anniversary by organising Gandhismriti programmes, workshops, janajagruti jatha, cleanliness programmes, liquor-free conventions, and women’s conferences to spread awareness among the people. A total of 134 programmes will be held at Taluk and District Level across the State.
This time, the October 2 event will be held from October 2 to 10. Through this, more than 1 lakh people will be made aware of the creation of an addiction-free society.
‘Jagriti Anna’ and ‘Jagriti Mitra’ awards will be presented in recognition of achievers and de-addiction workers. Felicitation programme for 8000 people who became alcohol-free during the current year will be held. The demand for a liquor-free state, special programmes such as the oath-in ceremony of the new janajagruti office-bearers will be held. Dr. Veerendra Heggade’s video messege will be telecast in all the programmes across the State.
This time, especially at Amritavarshini Auditorium, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala in Belthangady Taluk on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a convention of Navajivan members and the oath taking ceremony of central federations will be held on October 2 under the chairmanship of Dr. Veerendra Heggade.
The programme was inaugurated by Gyanvikasa Mahila Programme President Dr. Hemavathi. V. Heggade. Navajivan Member Manjunath Thirthahalli and Shri Ashok Bharadwaj, Bengaluru has been conferred with the ‘Navajivan Sadhaka’ award by MLC K. Pratapsimha Nayak. Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project Executive Director Dr. L.H. Manjunath will deliver the valedictory address. And a book titled ‘Navajivan Puja Vidha’ written by Dr. Heggade to be released.
Alva’s Education Foundation Moodabidri, its President Dr. M. Mohan Alva will perform the swearing-in ceremony of the central federations. The Chief Guest at the event will be R. B. Hebballi, Businessmen from Mumbai and Anil Kumar S. S., Chief Executive Officers, SKDRDP B. C. Trust (R) Dharmasthala, K. Vasantha Salian, Founder President, Janajagruti Vedike, Belthangady, Vivek V. Pais, Regional Director, Janajagruti, Vasanth Salian, Regional Director, Udupi, S. S. Satish Shetty, Director, Dakshina Kannada District, will be present.
There are 6,100 Pragatibandhu Self Help Groups functioning under the Belthangady and Guruvayanakere Projects of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project and 45,210 members have been able to live with self-reliance. The savings made by the association at the rate of Rs.10 each per week has now collected Rs. 31.88 Crore. The current outstanding amount of the members will be Rs. 300 Crore. As many as 162 federations have been formed in the taluk to ensure efficient functioning of the associations and to provide transparent service to the members at their doorsteps. The oath taking ceremony of the Central Federation of the two project offices of the taluk will be held today, said Yeshwanth, Project Officer, Guruvayanakere.
