Belthangady: World Spinal Cord Injury Day held

Belthangady: World Spinal Cord Injury Day and annual function was held at Sevadham Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Centre, Southadka, a subsidiary of Sevabharati Kanyadi on Monday September 5.

District Disabled Welfare Officer Gopalakrishna said inaugurating the programme that if the specially abled can come to the fore in the society, the service of Sevadham, which is working to empower such people, is a beacon for many. He said that work is going on to identify the beneficiaries of the spinal cord accident and work will be done to deliver the facilities available from the Department.

 

Kakkinje Shri Krishna Hospital Medical Director Murali Krishna Irwatraya spoke and said that those who are facing spinal cord problem should be given strength by creating inspiration, what cannot be conquered physically can be conquered mentally. He said that his team will provide free service once a month service at Sevadham rehabilitation centre which is working with the mission of service is life.

Sevadham Coordinator K. Purandara Rao presided over the programme.

Beltangady Rotary Club President Manorama Bhat, Southadka Shri Mahaganapati Temple Management Committee President M. Harish Rao, Businessman Prabhakara Hegde, Shri Mahaganapati Seva Trust Chairman K. Krishna Bhatt, Manjula Harish of Manjushree Institute, Mysore, Rayan Fernandes, Director of Sevadham, Supervisor Shasidhar Khadilkar, Ratnavathi, Vinoda of Women and Child Welfare Department and others were present.

Founder of Sevadham, President Vinayak Rao gave the introductory speech.

Administrative Director Rupalakshmi welcomed. Pushpalatha and Charan M. compered the programme.

Wheelchairs, walkers etc. were distributed to spinal cord accident victims. Those who have rendered special services to Sevadham were felicitated. Cultural programmes were held.
