Belthangady: The World Spinal Cord Injury Day was observed in association with Seva Bharathi (R) Kanyadi and Rotary Club, Koppa at the Town Hall in Koppa of Chikkamagaluru District.
Koppa Deputy Conservator of Forests Shinde Nilesh Deuba inaugurated the programme. Vinayaka Rao presided over the function. Shakatapura Matha Manager Raghava, Koppa Rotary Club President N. P. Sukesh, Rotary Club Secretary Dr. H. Udayshankar, Zonal Lieutenant Ramesh M. Rotary Members Rekha Udayshankar, Nagaraj Prasad, Raghavendra Bhat, Seva Bharathi Staff Asreeth, C.bP. Charan M., Akhilesh A and others were present.
Medical kits were distributed to physically-challenged on the occasion. Rotary Club members visited the homes of spinal cord inury victims and exchanged views on the services to be offered to them.
After the programme, a wheelchair jatha was taken out from Koppa Town Hall to the bus stand. The rally was attended by physically challenged who suffered spinal cord injuries, Members of Rotary Club, Students of Karnataka Public School and the general public.
Addressing the rally, Dr. Uday Shankar said that just as Teachers’ Day is celebrated on September 5, World Spinal Cord Injury Day is being observed. He promised to cooperate with the Sevadhama on behalf of Shakatapura and Rotary.
