Beltangadi: Fire disasters have occurred in Neria and Ujire areas of Belthangadi taluk.In the Charmadi-Kanapadi reserve forest of Neriya village, there was a fire in places like Patla, Kataje and the grass in the forest was burnt. Due to the dry grass growing on the stones of the forest, there was no major disaster. With the cooperation of the locals, the brave disaster team and DRFO Yatindra Gastu, Forest Warden Panduranga Committee and the staff of the Department of Natural Resources managed to bring the fire under control. It is said that due to this the fire did not spread towards the dense forest where the forest wealth is located.
It has come to know that there have been cases of fire in Banjaru Male and some other private places in the vicinity of Neri.
An incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in Ninnigallu Palanja, Ujira, where miscreants set fire to straw on the roadside. The fire spread to the nearby mobile tower of a private company and spread to private places. DRFO Hariprasad, Patrol Forest Warden Ravi, Observer Sadananda, Ujire Grampam Member Guruprasad Kotyan, Jeremy Desa and local people helped in bringing the fire under control. On Monday, a fire broke out in the plantation of the Forest Department on the other side of the road and an area of about 3 acres was burnt.
From the last one week, incidents of fire disaster are happening in Ninigallu environment.
Alekhan Horatti area of Charmadi, Ghati environment of Chikkamagalur division is known to be burning in light scale.
