Beltangady: Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Village Development Project not only empowers women but also provides house construction and other basic amenities to the destitute through Vatsalya programme. Hemavathi V Heggade said.
She handed over a house worth 1 lakh to the family of Shivanna Chirumanail, a resident of Nekkere, village of Neriya in Belthangadi taluk.
A total of 60402 families have been surveyed in the present Vatsalya program, out of which 16821 beneficiaries have been selected as Vatsalya families. So far Vatsalya Kit has been distributed to 12632 families and currently this month Vatsalya Kit will be distributed to 4189 families.
In the Vatsalya program, the beneficiaries are provided with Vatsalya Kits and basic amenities are also provided. Works worth approximately 2 crores have been sanctioned and implemented for this programme. Out of this 245 house construction/repair work and 214 toilet/bathroom construction/repair work, solar/electricity installation/repair work, medicine supply, child education assistance has been provided.
In the interest of the health of Vatsalya beneficiaries, Vatsalya Mix is prepared and quality checked by good health experts, the nutritious food called Vatsalya Mix is distributed to 1327 beneficiaries and 127 parents have been selected to prepare Vatsalya Mix and give it to the beneficiaries.
In this program, the honorable executive director of the village development project Dr. LH Manjunath, former president of Janjagriti Forum DA Rahman, Regional Director of Janjagriti Forum Vivek Vincent Payas, Udupi Regional Director Vasant Salian, District Director Satish Shetty, Taluk Planning Officer Surendra Kumar were present and the Taluk Planning Officer welcomed and thanked the District Director.
