Belthangadi: A new stone idol of Sri Mahaganapati was brought to Aladangadi tollbooth Sri Mahaganapati temple, which is renovated and ready for Brahmakalashotsava, in a special procession from Sri Mukambika Shilpakalakendra, Karkala on January 29.
State Government Energy Minister Sunil Kumar handed over the idol at Shilpakalakendra and bade farewell. He started the procession. In the presence of sculptor Gunwant Bhatt, temple priest Praveena Maya performed the rituals.
Devotees there welcomed the idol in Naravi, a border village of the taluk. From there, Veeramma Sanjeeva Salian of Donkabet and children from different directions of the temple were also brought in the procession. Welcomed near Mahammai Gudi in Sulkeri. A celebratory entry took place near Marigudi in Pillya.
The new idol was enshrined in the temple premises. The consecration of the idol will be done on February 7 and the Brahmakalashotsava will be held on February 9.

The new idol was made by Dharamsthala Dharmadhikari Dr Virendra Heggade with special dedication and dedicated to the temple.
