Beltangady: “The Mahamastakabhisheka program of Venur Baahubali Murthy, which was established about 400 years ago, will be held in February 2024. The date of this 10-day state-level program will be fixed after the elections,” said Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Virendra Heggade said.

He was speaking at a pre-preparation consultation meeting for Mahamastakabhisheka held at Sri Siddhavana, Ujira on Wednesday..

Maha Swamiji of Moodbidire Jain Math Dr. Charu Keerthi Bhattarak Panditacharyavarya spoke and said, “All arrangements will be made to conduct the Mahamajna as a social movement with a broad purpose and unity. This program will be carried out socially on the basis of peace through non-violence, happiness through sacrifice, and peace through friendship.”

The program will be held under the chairmanship of Virendra Heggade, and it will be a platform to present the philosophy of religion, non-violence and history of coexistence. Amongst the monolithic idols of Karnataka, Venur Baahubali idol is 36 feet and is the fourth highest in height. It has a tradition of conducting Maha Mastaka Abhisheka every 12 years and it has been going on since 1956. The previous Mahamastakabhisheka was held in 2012. Due to the sun, this time Mahamastakabhisheka programs have been decided to be completed at night.
