Beltangady: Punar Pratistha Ashtabandha Brahmakalashotsava will be held from February 18 to March 1 at Venur Sri Mahalingeshwar temple along with various Vedic religious and cultural programs, said Brahmakalashotsava Samiti Chairman, Governor Harish Poonja.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, he said that the Venur Sri Mahalingeshwar temple is one of the oldest sites with a history of approximately 1,400 years. This temple is a seema temple which covers 32 villages divided into 4 Rajyaguthu and 12 Maganeguthu.
At present, the deity appropriation and festivals of the temple are done with the cooperation of the devotees, and the temple is a religious endowment department. On 29.2019 after the 2019 year-long Jatra Mahotsav, Sri Mahalingeshwar Deity and Parivar Deity were constructed and enshrined in a separate Balalaya to start the renovation works. The foundation stone for the reconstruction of the temple was laid on June 26, 2019 by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharathithirtha Maha Sannidhanamgala of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham Sringeri, Tatkarakamal Sanjata Jagadguru Sankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhusekhara Bharathi Sannidhanamgala and Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D. He said it was done in the presence of Virendra Heggade and MLA Harish Poonja.
On February 18th, the 81 villages of the taluk and the outer taluk will be dedicated to the Lord. A grand procession will be held at Guruvayanakere Shakti Nagar from 2 pm with the performance of balls, maddale, kombu, bhajan and various costumes and firecrackers. Mohan Kumar, administrator of Ujire Lakshmi Group, will lead the procession.
On February 19th, from 8.30 am, various Vedic programs, Kunita Bhajan, religious lecture program will be held at 11 am. Naravi Suryanarayan Temple Management Committee President Niranjan Azri, Delampuri Sri Mahadev Mahaganapati Temple Management Committee President Kantaje Krishna Bhat, Kukkedi Village Committee President Janardhan, Venur Village Committee Vice President Pushpa, Kaliya P.K.P.S.S.M President Vasant Majlu will participate.
Kamal Bangera Venur store will be inaugurated at 5 pm and Gouramma Narasamha Bhatt and Chandra Kumari Bhajana Kammata will inaugurate it. Praveen Kumar Indra, Secretary of Sridigambara Jaina Theertha Kshetra Samiti (R.) Venur will inaugurate the cultural program. Vasant Salian Kapinadka Brahmakalashotsava Service Office will be inaugurated Annapurneswari Bhojana Mandap will be inaugurated by Harish Mundruppady, President of the Management Committee of Southadka Sri Mahaganapati Temple. Former Commissioner of Mujarai Department Shyam Bhatt will launch the Yakshagana platform.
A religious meeting will be held from 7 in the evening by Dr. Thimmannarasara of Aladangadi Palace Padmaprasad Ajila will preside. Prasada Asranna of Srikshetra Katil will give greetings. VP member Pratapsinha Naik, Manjunath Bhandari, President of Alwas Group Educational Institutions Dr. Mohan Alva, and other dignitaries will participate.

A religious lecture will be given by Prabhakara Joshi on the subject of Yakshagana and religiosity.
