Beltangady: The incident took place on Friday evening when a recently constructed barrier on the side of the road connecting to Janata Colony in Navur village of Beltangady taluk collapsed during the first rain.
Amid widespread criticism of corruption in the works, the barrier was completely destroyed by the first rains of the year. The barrier damaged the foundation of a local’s house. Locals alleged that the debris of the barrier was cleared using JCB on Friday night itself. Due to unscientific and poor quality of work, the barrier has collapsed. Locals have alleged that the road is also in danger due to this. An unscientific barrier has also been constructed behind the new Gram Panchayat building. The public has informed that it may also collapse during the rainy season.
