Wild elephant seen at Beltangady town square

Beltangady: An elephant was spotted under the Patrame bridge on Tuesday morning. It entered Panchvati Shama Prasadar’s garden near Pattram Bridge and the garden of Balakrishna, a resident of Timaraddi, and destroyed the banana plant.

In places like Pattur, Alamguru, Badipalike Timardda, wild elephants entered the plantations at night and causing damage to agriculture. The locals found that around 8 in the morning, they were moving under the Patrame bridge.

It is learned that the elephant entered the plantation of a native, crossed the stream through Marlaje, and went towards the nearby hill. Locals said that the elephant was in the same location till noon. This caused panic among the locals.
About 15 days ago, another elephant was found in a densely populated area near Aniyur in Neriyada. This area is close to the Shiradi location and Neri and it is not understood from which part of the forest the elephant entered. Forest Department DRFO team visited the spot.
