Belthangady: Lorry hits house at roadside

Belthangady: A lorry carrying timber hit a roadside house at Nidigal on the Mangaluru-Villupuram National Highway on the morning of Tuesday September 27. The house has been damaged due to the impact.

A lorry travelling from Charmady to Belthangady on the road was overtaken by a KSRTC bus travelling from Alanthadka to Dharmasthala. Lorry tried to escape from accident and hit a house.

Unaware of this incident, the bus was stopped by the people near Anugraha School and the driver and conductor were called to the spot. An argument broke out between the lorry driver and the bus crew at the spot and the bus crew clarified that there was no wrongdoing from their end.

Belthangady Traffic Police Station personnel reached the spot and conducted an investigation. The accident caused traffic jam for sometime.

Tragedy averted

Some labourers are taking shelter here as no one is staying in the house which the lorry hit. Here school children and other commuters wait for the vehicle. Locals said that there was no tragedy as the people who were here left shortly before the accident.
