Folk artist Macharu Gopal Nayka died due to unwellness

Beltangady : Macharu Gopala Nayka (85) of Belalu village, who was famous as folk artist Tulu Siri poetry, died in Mangalore hospital due to unwellness. He died on 24. He is survived by his wife, son and four daughters.

 

He received the Rajyotsava Award in 2005 for his service in the field of folklore.
Siri used to sing fluently the long text of 15,683 lines in Sandhi. His Siri poetry is still present in Dalya rituals held in Siri fairs.
He had a great understanding of folk myths and heritage, the story progression of his Siri poetry, the art of reconstructing its stories by dividing them into units, and selecting and adapting the description from the heritage.
In 1985, Lauri Hanko from Finland came to Udupi for a program in folklore studies, recognizing Gopala’s talent as a director, B.A. Viveka Rai, under the leadership of Chinnappa Gowda, collected the text of Sirisandhi through him. condolence
The president of District Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Dr. M.P. said that the death of Macharu Gopal Naik, who was famous as a folk poet and was famous as the wasp of many Sandhi Paddanas, is an irreparable loss to the world of folk literature. Srinath expressed condolences.
