Vijayaraghav Padvetnaya passes away on sunday

Belthangadi:U.Vijayaraghava Padvetnaya (78), who belonged to the famous Palasattaya family of Ujire village, was the hereditary administrator of the Ujire Sri Janardhana Swamy Temple, and had the right to worship Sri Ananta Padmanabha Swamy of Kerala, passed away at his home on sunday after a brief illness.

He is survived by sons Tulu Shivalli Sabha Ujire Zone President, Sarath Krishna Paduvetnaya who is recognized in many organizations and daughter Sandhya who resides in Bangalore.He received his primary and secondary education from Janardana School, Ujira and Karnataka Vidyalaya and completed his commerce degree from St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. Although graduates, their interest in agriculture is the agricultural land of elders; He developed taste and became an ideal farmer. The family is famous for its charity with 3000 rice mills in Ujire village. Paduvetnaya was the biggest zamindars of the district, who were distributed among six villages and used to get rice from threshing floors.

He has established a Primary Farmers’ Co-operative Society in Ujire and as its President, Director and Mentor has contributed to the progress of the Society. , as the president of Tulu Shivalli Sabha (Beltangadi) has created 8 zones and carried out social organization work. As the President of Beltangady Taluk Vishwa Hindu Parishad, he guided the Hindu Samojatsavas held across the taluk and was the Honorary President of Ujira Public Shri Ganeshotsava and Shri Sharada Puja Committee.Sri Janardana Swamy created a Madhvamantapa on the south-east side of the temple and installed the statue of Sri Madhwacharya through Sri Vishweshathirtha Srigalavara of Peja.
In 2001 Ujire Sri Janardhana Swamy temple renovation, Brahmakalashotsavam and again in 2013 Brahmakalashotsavam were performed with grandeur, guiding the Brahmakalashotsavams of ten other temples in the taluk and making a unique contribution to the religious field. As the founder president of Ujire Lions Club, Tulu-Shivali Sabha of Taluk, President, Honorary President of Brahmin Mahasabha, Founder President of Ujire Vartaka Sangh, Honorary President of Kuri Vithala Shastri Yakshagana Pratishthan, played an important role in the establishment of Ujire Credit Co-operative Society, Sri Ramakrishna Sabhamantapa of temple, Srikrishna Anugraha Sabha through dance. He continuously conducted programs like yakshagana, music, encouraged art and artists and made a unique contribution to the social and cultural field.

Born on 16th august. 1945 , Ramakrishna Padvetnaya, Bhagirathiamma, a resident of Paduvetti, Ujira, Vijayaraghava married Kusuma on 12th Dec. 1972.
The skill of curing burns caused by fire with the herbal oil prepared by himself came to him through the elders and he used to treat hundreds of people and also perform traditional medical services.
In 2016, when the people of the taluk held a congratulatory meeting at Ujire, he published a congratulatory book called Dharmabhushan. Padvetnayar received DK District Rajyotsava Award in 2010 for social service, Kateelu Sri Gopalakrishna Asranna Memorial Award, Dharmabhushan Award from Sri Vishweshathirtha Sri of Pejavar Math, Sri Krishnanugraha Award from Sri Sugunendra Theertha Sri of Udupi Puttige Math, Dimasthamba Award for Kuria Vithala Shastri’s Birth Centenary Commemoration, Cooperative Dhurina Sri G. N. Bhide Award, Aranya Mitra Award from Forest Department, Top Villager Award from Arippadi Mutt, Bhagirath Award from Sri Subudhendra Theertha Sripadangal of Mantralaya Sri Raghavendra Swami Mutt, Ujira’s Sangivan Kattona Banni team awarded the award. Yakshagana performances and talamaddale weeks have been held to satisfy art lovers. Apart from that, he was responsible for the renovation of many temples in the taluk.
Dharmasthala deacon Dr. D. Virendra Heggade mourned his death. MLA Harish Poonja, Vidhan Parishad members K. Pratapasimha Naik, K. Harish Kumar, former MLA K. Vasantha Bangera and many others expressed their condolences.
