Beltangady: Family Apostolate of Belthangadi Diocese, DKRDS (Re) Belthangadi, Caritas India New Delhi and Snehakiran District Union Belthangadi organized a hair donation program to help cancer patients on April 1 at Santom Tower, Belthangadi as part of the Touch-Cancer Awareness Program.
President of Beltangady Snehakiran District Union Mrs. Manjula Joan inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. The director of DKRDS organization, Vandanya Fr. Binoy A.J. Proposed. Sneha Jyoti Mahila Taluk Union(R) Belthangadi its President Mrs. Eliamma Thomas and Keshadani Mrs. Mary Joan were present on the stage. The Director of Family Apostolate of Beltangady Diocese Fr. Joseph Cheeran presided over the program and gave detailed information about the importance of hair donation. Sunil Gonsalves, program coordinator of DKRDS organized the program. DKRDS staff member Mark D’ Soja welcomed and felicitated Ms. Cecilia Tavro, DKRDS coordinator. Mundaje’s beautician Mrs Jinsi Rajesh assisted in hair removal. A total of 12 people donated hair. Certificates were distributed to all those who donated hair. This hair is used to make a wig for cancer sufferers. A total of 32 people including SMYM members of Beltangady Diocese, office bearers of the union, DKRDS staff were present and contributed to the success of this program.
