Shibaje: The deadbody of a six-month-old leopard cub was found on March 25 in the evening of 100 m from the Panchayat road at Padantaje, a protected forest here. Kalebera was discovered while patrolling by the forest department personnel, postmortem was done and buried as per the department’s rules.
It is suspected that the cheetah cub may have died due to a recent fire in the forest due to lack of food and water. Gram Panchayat President Ratish Gowda, members, departmental officers and villagers cooperated.
