Beltangady: A fire broke out on the side of the road near Ujire TB Cross on Mangalore Villupuram National Highway on Thursday.
The effect of fire is about 50m. Straw was burnt at the place and some trees were also damaged.A mentally ill person is suspected of setting fire on the roadside.
Fire Brigade, Forest Department DRFOs Ravindra, Rajesh, staff Pradeep and locals brought the fire under control.There were houses and shops around the place where the fire spread and there was an atmosphere of panic in the environment. There was a lot of plastic and other waste at the place where the fire spread and we had to fight to bring the fire under control.
