Belthangadi: Rain disturbance, damage In Belthangadi taluk on Friday evening, the rain created several disturbances and caused a lot of damage. It rained on March 17 in Mundaje, Kalmanja, Chibidre and Ujire areas of the taluk. The rain that fell on Friday is the first rain for the taluk this time.


Due to heavy wind, thunder, lightning and hailstorm, several plantations of the villages like Charmadi Kakkinje, Neriya, Mundaje, Kalmanja, Mittabagilu, Kadirudyavara, Indabettu, Laila, Nada etc. have fallen down..

More than 30 sheets of Agari Eliamma’s house in the third block of Mundaje village were blown to pieces. As the sheets of the roof of the house were blown off, the things inside the house were also damaged. The sheets of Bhavani Ramesh’s house in Ermal Palke of Kadirudyavara village were blown away by the wind. A coconut tree fell on the house of Naveen near Badyaru Kalenjirodi and the roof of the house was completely damaged. As there was no one in the house at the time of the incident, the family escaped danger. A tree fell on the house of Prashantha Nayka at Badekott in Ujire, causing damage to the wall and ceiling. A tree fell on Valti’s cattle shed near Ijjala and there was loss. In Kodekallu Darkasu, a tree fell on Kusamma’s cattle shed, injuring the cow and a woman from the neighboring house who had come to tie the calf. A tree fell and damaged the barn of Usha Keshav at Bakrottu.
Scattered houses in Nada village were damaged.
The barrier built on the side of the connecting road of Janata Colony in Navur village has collapsed. In many places, the wiring and electrical equipment of the houses have been burnt due to lightning.
10 lakhs loss to Mescom.Due to the first rain, Meskang has suffered more than 10 lakh rupees loss. Due to the wind rain, the electric poles have been damaged, branches of trees have fallen on the line and the electric wires have been cut. 25 electric poles and two transformer stations have been completely damaged in areas like Mundaje, Ujire, Nidigal etc. of Ujire Mescom sub-division.
