If it is a measure to provide market for the crops purchased from the farmers, the horticulture sector in Maddadka of Belthangadi taluk has started an innovative experiment by opening a new outlet for the sale of fruits, vegetables and honey grown by their department.
As compared to Ubaya district, Maddadka has the largest area of horticulture except Shivalli in Udupi. It is spread over about 105 acres near Maddadka on the Mangalore-Chikkamagaluru National Highway..
In Maddadka horticulture sector, we are providing nursery plants at departmental rate to farmers as well as common people. Now we have opened an outlet like a market square and provided an open market.
