Beltangadi: A lorry carrying tiles from Mangalore to Kottigehara overturned on a narrow road near Mundaje Bridge on the Mangalore-Villupuram National Highway, causing traffic chaos.
Early on Friday morning, the driver lost control and the lorry moved to the right side of the road and overturned. When the lorry overturned, tiles were scattered on the road. There was only enough space for one vehicle to travel and there was frequent traffic jam problem. The lorry was lifted and moved by a crane.
At this time, the tiles in the lorry had occupied half the road. This continued till night, and some bikers skidded. A car moved on the heap of tiles and miraculously continued without any accident.
Arrangements for traffic by locals.
On Friday night local social worker Sachin Bhide, Gramm member Jagdish Naik, Anand Somanthadka Dinesh, Vipin Bharat Mundaje and others made arrangements for smooth traffic by clearing the heaps of broken tiles that were lying all over the road.
