Beltangady: The people of the environment are relieved as the flow of water has started in the Mrityunjaya river in Belthangadi taluk, which had been causing concern for the last one month due to declining flow.

The Mrityunjaya river, which confluences with the Netravati river at Pajiradka in Kalmanja village, has dried up to a great extent this time and has stopped its flow in most parts.According to the elders, this is the only time that the river has dried up so much after many years. The farmers were in a state of panic because of the drying up of the river.
Since last four days water flow has started due to normal rainfall in Charmadi and river flowing areas. Water is flowing from Charmadi to Pajiradka. This river is filled with kindi dams in the areas like Anangalli, Kadamballi, Mundaje, Kapu etc. There was no water supply from Kindi Dam to the agricultural fields for about a month. But now as a result of these being filled, the water has again reached the agricultural fields.

Due to the increase in water in the Mrityunjaya River which gives more strength to the Netravati River, the flow of the Netravati River in the low lying areas from Pajiradka has also increased. This has led to an increase in Netravati river water flowing through various parts of the district and the water problem in many parts of the district will be solved.

It is about 15 km from Didupe to Kudenchitan in Kalmanja. The condition of the river which has dried up in the range continues.
For one and a half months, the river has been seen as a playground and there are few places where there is a small amount of water in the river pits and now that too has dried up. In many parts of the areas where the river flows here, pits have already been dug in the river for daily use. The flow in this river can start only if there is continuous rain on the Elaniru and Didupe side.
