Belthangadi: The rain brought relief to the people who were suffering from the summer temperature and many parts of Belthangadi taluk received hailstorm and windy rain on Friday evening.
Most of the places including Ujire, Mundaje, Dharmasthala, Kokkada, Laila, Naravi, Belthangadi and Charmadi received good rain.The forecast for rain on Thursday midnight was drizzle with thunder. Now on Friday, it started raining with wind and it has rained to the extent that water is flowing in the roads and drains.
Due to summer heat, the ground water was drained and there was no water in the boreholes, the farmers were panicked. Now the weather is cold due to rain for half an hour. Hail rain has occurred in most places.
The electrical appliances of many houses were damaged due to lightning.
As the rains started, the electricity supply was interrupted in the rural areas.

It is known that more than 25 electric poles were broken in Ujire and Mundaje due to the wind that blew with the rain. Also, the wooden poles were broken on the electric line and there was an interruption in the power supply.Near Gajanthodi of Kadirudyavara village, Biju Tomas’ nearly 1,000 Nendra banana plants were uprooted by the heavy winds that accompanied the rain on Friday evening.
