Belthangadi : MLA Harish Poonja said that last time 50 borewells were installed in the taluk by the Karnataka Irrigation Corporation on the basis of making agriculture the livelihood of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and in the second phase, 80 borewells are being planned.
4 crore for 80 eligible Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries of Belthangadi Taluk. He spoke at the house of Falanu V Vasu K. Padibettu of Melantabettu village to provide drinking water for agriculture and drinking water by Karnataka Irrigation Corporation Limited.
5 lakhs each for each beneficiary under Varahi scheme for Scheduled Tribes who depend on agriculture for their livelihood. He said that an innovative scheme of tube well, pipeline, sprinkler jet and electricity supply has been implemented in the taluk.

Rs 5 lakh each for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families in the state having more than one acre of land under Cauvery Irrigation Corporation. Cost includes installation of borewell, pump, electricity connection, pipeline, sprinklers. In the first phase, 25 per caste, 25 per tribe and 2.50 crores. A total of 50 beneficiaries of the scheme have been received at the cost. 60 per caste in the second phase, P.P. MLA Harish Poonja said that 20 to 80 beneficiaries will get the privilege.
